Laelia purpurata is a fairly tall Brazilian Cattleya species that produces tall spikes of large colorful flowers in the summer. L purpurata was reclassified as a Cattleya a few years ago and can be called either a Cattleya or a Laelia.
There are many different varieties of L. purpurata and the striata variety is defined by the veining (stripes) on the petals and its colorful lip. See also our plants of L. purpurata var Schusteriana.
These plants are well established in 3.5″ pots and should be about a year from blooming size.
